Messerschmitt TG500 Tiger – competition car 88DTO For Sale (1958)
Der erst im August verkaufte Tiger – 88DTO soll nun einem neuen Besitzer Freude bereiten. Warum der Tiger nach 2 Monaten schon wieder auf dem Markt ist ? Geht wohl nur um die $$$, oder der aktuelle Besitzer muss die Hypothek bezahlen – egal nun ist er wieder zu haben.
So sieht es der Verkäufer:
Available for sale is perhaps the greatest of all Messerschmitt TG500’s. Ken Piper of Testwood Motor’s unique 1958 racing Tiger – 88DTO
Just 18 Tiger’s were imported officially into the UK from an extremely low production run. The Messerschmitt Tiger needs no introduction as the ultimate microcar both then and now.
88DTO was successfully raced and rallied in period by Mr Piper but then then disappeared without a trace. Thought lost forever believed scrapped, ‚DTO was discovered in the early 70’s somewhat worse for wear after its life of competing. Happily it survived the 50’s/60’s complete and intact and is now available in A1 restored condition for the discerning collector who values provenance and a Tiger’s sensational styling and sheer road presence like no other.
A comprehensive history file accompanies the Tiger with many in period photos/articles of 88DTO being campaigned in the late 50’s.
A Tiger auctioned in 2013 by RM achieved a rather modest £210,000 which serves to illustrate how desirable and revered these charming machines are. Needless to say this car should prove to be a sound investment for the next lucky custodian of 88DTO.

besonders gut gefällt mir der Hinweis auf die Bruce Weiner Versteigerung wo ein anderer Tiger die eher bescheidene Summe von £ 210k erreicht hat. Keine Ahnung, in welchen Sphären der Verkäufer schwebt, aber so Bescheiden scheint mir diese Summe nicht.
